Jack Luscombe "Pay It Forward" Award

PRESENTED ANNUALLY AT JUNE AWARDS

Jack Luscombe will be remembered not only for being “Jack the Roofer”, but also for his generous heart. He always donated his AAMD Trade Show booth to charity and supported numerous other groups and people in need. He literally, in several instances, gave people the jacket off his back if he thought it would help.

Jack was a consummate fisherman and would always fillet, de-bone, and quick freeze hundreds of pounds of fish every year that he would then personally deliver to the various food banks in the area. Jack was dedicated to the mindset of paying it forward to those in need. This award is a fitting recognition for others within our apartment association who share the generous spirit that Jack imbued so well.

The recipient of this award will have demonstrated the generous spirit of Jack in any way, such as community service projects, specific ways they went above and beyond for the community, etc.

Jack Shapiro Award:
Most Outstanding Supplier Professional

PRESENTED AT AAMD'S TRIBUTES (EVERY 3-4 YEARS)

As the founder of Kwal Paint, Jack Shapiro understood better than most that the relationship between supplier and client required a special bond based on trust, integrity, openness and unwavering support for those with whom he did business.  He had the insight and vision to see the need for a platform in which suppliers could network among themselves to learn to grow and develop the qualities of customer service. This motivated him to develop the first Supplier's Council, which is still an integral part of AAMD today.  There is no higher recognition with AAMD for a member of the supplier community than to receive the Jack Shapiro Award.

Gordon Von Stroh
Grand Impact Community Award

PRESENTED AT AAMD'S TRIBUTES (EVERY 3-4 YEARS)

A member of the University of Denver faculty since 1981, Gordon Von Stroh was respected by faculty and student alike.  Awards and recognition were humbly appreciated but besides Gordon's work, his love of family and friends superseded all else.  In one of many eulogies written at the time of Gordon's passing, John Rebchook said, "calling Gordon Von Stroh a gentleman and a scholar was not a cliche."

The Grand Community Impact Award is presented to a community that has uniquely made a substantial positive impact on their surrounding community.

Past Recipients:
  • Prana Apartments (2011)
  • Highland Crossing / Highland Square (2015)
  • Zocalo Community Development (2023)
