Event Details

This two-part virtual series series will remind participants of the structure of the inspection, how the scoring system works, and what are the issues that unexpectedly drive down the score on a well-managed property. Each session can be taken as a stand alone seminar, or combined as a series!

Session 1
The Structure of the REAC Inspection – The Five Inspectable Areas- Site Issues – Electrical Issues

Session 2
Getting Back Into Our Units – Unit Defects from High Scoring to Low Scoring

Does your last REAC inspection seem like ancient history?  REAC inspections were suspended in March 2020 due to the COVID crisis, and for most of us, that has meant letting the topic REAC inspections take a back seat to more immediate concerns.  This situation will not last forever, and REAC will start inspecting properties again over the summer.

It’s critical that we all refresh our memories on how to do well on our REAC inspections.  If it was all about doing good management and maintenance, and using common sense, it would be relatively easy, but veterans of the process know that competence and common sense alone do not ad up to REAC success.

This session will remind participants of the structure of the inspection, how the scoring system works, and what are the issues that unexpectedly drive down the score on a well-managed property.  We will discuss how the REAC score breaks down across the five key Inspectable Areas, and we will go into detail on the most common high scoring non-Unit issues.  Then, because most of us have spent less time in our units over the last year, we will also review the key Unit issues.

Presented by

Throughout this time, Mike has continued to personally inspect properties, to provide advice on REAC preparation, and to prepare appeals for owners and managers.
