Tax Credit Foundations: The ABC's of LIHTC

Friday, December 7, 2018
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (MST)

Speakers: Susy Amador and Melissa Castillo, Tax Credit Program Officers, CHFA

Property staff with six months or less tax credit experience, or staff anticipating receiving new tax credits

People who are new to the tax credit world can often be overwhelmed by all the information and regulations. This class will give you the actual names (and functions) of all those acronyms, such as LURA and AMI.

The class is targeted to on-site staff at existing LIHTC properties or those properties that have recently been awarded tax credits. The class is led by CHFA staff who review property files, and they will discuss the various required forms and provide useful suggestions for setting up your files.

We will discuss the importance of the Land Use Restriction Agreement (LURA), and occupancy requirements. Various scenarios will be presented for you to practice income and asset calculation. Requirements regarding annual certifications will be discussed.

You will receive a class manual that will help you to reference information as you need it back at your property.

This class is not to be used as a substitute for the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Compliance classes offered throughout the year to satisfy the QAP requirement or the issuance of the 8609. Instead, this class is designed to give those who are brand new to tax credits a jumpstart into the world of LIHTC.

Presented in partnership by the Apartment Association of Metro Denver (AAMD) and Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA)
