Organization Overview

The Colorado Group to Alleviate Smoking Pollution (GASP) is a 501(c)(3) statewide nonprofit organization founded in 1977. Through education and policy change, GASP works to protect the public health through programs and actions to eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke at work, in public places, and in multiunit housing. No one should be forced to breathe secondhand smoke, whether it is from tobacco or marijuana smoking, or the aerosols emitted by electronic smoking devices.

Together with the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE), we provide free resources to help implement and enforce smoke-free housing policies for multifamily apartments managers. We can also provide free signs, model lease language, presentations to residents and staff, survey tools, educational materials, and resources for smoking cessation and mediation. GASP provides online smoke-free housing resources and a list of Colorado apartments and condominiums that have smoke-free policies at mysmokefreehousing.org and mysmokefreehousing.com
