Meet Caleb and Desiree, the 2026–2027 Chairs of AAMD's Inclusion & Diversity Committee. Learn more about their backgrounds, their passion for mentorship, and their vision for the year ahead.

Tell us a about your professional background and journey to this role.

C: I began my career in the multifamily industry as a temporary employee through Robert Half. My first assignment was at a property in Wheat Ridge, where I was given keys, a notebook, and instructions to document resident questions until someone could stop by and help answer them. That experience became the foundation of my career. I was fortunate that the regional manager overseeing the property recognized my potential and offered me a position as a Multi-Site Assistant Manager. I continued working alongside this leader at two additional properties before eventually joining RedPeak. Since then, I have progressed from Assistant Manager at Seasons of Cherry Creek, to Property Manager in Arvada, and now serve as a Multi-Site Manager in the Capitol Hill area.

D: I have been in this industry for about 12 years now and started as a leasing agent and worked my way up the chain, AM to PM to District Manager and now to Regional Manager. I have taken every opportunity for growth and have been determined to learn as much as I can as quickly as I can.

How long have you been a part of I&D and what made you originally apply to be on the committee?

C: For the past year, I have been involved with Inclusion & Diversity (I&D), primarily through the MIND Program. I participated in the program for three years, both as a mentee and later as a mentor but this was my first year in a leadership role overseeing the mentees. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about supporting others and creating opportunities for people to succeed, regardless of where they started or their background. The MIND Program has played a significant role in my own growth, helping me develop professionally through discussions ranging from budgeting and operations to navigating industry challenges and evolving regulations.

D: I think I have been involved in some way shape or form for about 3ish years now. I started as a mentee with MIND and after a few years, I was co-chair of the I&D committee, which I am still today for my second year in a row. I became increasingly involved with the MIND program and it has become a true passion of mine, so when I was asked to co-chair the committee, it was a no brainer.

How excited are you to be the new co-chairs of I&D?!

C: I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to serve as Co-Chair of I&D. This role not only allows me to continue growing within AAMD and gain a broader perspective of the organization, but also gives me the chance to collaborate and learn from my Co-Chair, Desiree, with whom I first connected through the MIND Program.

D: I am both excited and honored to be a co-chair again this year. I have truly enjoyed my time with the AAMD and wish to continue for as long as I can.

What are your top priorities as co-chairs?

C: One of my primary goals is to continue expanding and strengthening the MIND Program. I believe mentorship is one of the most impactful ways to support emerging professionals in our industry. Beyond developing skills and knowledge, the program helps individuals build confidence, form meaningful connections, and become more engaged within the multifamily community. At its core, this industry is about people, and the MIND Program embodies that principle.

D: I wholeheartedly agree with Caleb’s goals regarding MIND for the I&D committee.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

C: My heart is on the right side of my body—a rare condition that always makes for an interesting conversation. I also play semi-professional inline hockey on the weekends, which gives me the opportunity to travel, compete, and unwind outside of work.

D: Despite being a Colorado native, I have never been skiing or snowboarding. My mom and my best friend both suffered bad injuries on the mountain and I have not been able to get past that unfortunate fear! I have never not had a dog in my whole life and I love paddleboarding which is a new hobby I just picked up this year. My hubby and I have also known each other since we were 12 years old and that always makes for a fun storytelling about our lives.
