Attending the AAMD 2026 June Awards was a meaningful reminder of why I chose a career in the multifamily industry. When I first started in property management, I never imagined how much the industry would continue to evolve year after year. Looking back, it is exciting to see the innovation, fresh perspectives, and emerging leaders that continue to shape our profession while keeping people at the center of everything we do. That is why this ceremony has become one of my favorite events each year. Beyond celebrating accomplishments, it brings together professionals who inspire one another, recognize excellence, and reaffirm our shared commitment to serving our communities.

This year's event was especially meaningful because I had the opportunity to attend as a mentee of the M.I.N.D program, a pillar of the Inclusion and Diversity Committee. Being part of M.I.N.D. has allowed me to contribute to something beyond my daily responsibilities. Throughout the year, I have had the privilege of learning from my mentor, Orapin Williams, and collaborating with professionals from across the Denver metro area who are passionate about fostering inclusion, supporting mental wellness, and creating meaningful connections within our industry.

One of the biggest highlights of the evening was the celebration of this year's award recipients and the incredible impact each of them has made. Their accomplishments represent more than professional success. They reflect resilience, innovation, and a genuine commitment to strengthening the multifamily industry across Colorado.

A special congratulations goes to our fellow M.I.N.D. mentor, Tamera, on
being named AAMD President for the 2026–2027 term. This remarkable achievement reflects the leadership, passion, and dedication she brings to our industry every day. Watching someone who embodies the values of mentorship, inclusion, and service step into this role was inspiring. It also reinforced the mission of the M.I.N.D. program, which is to develop leaders who invest in others and create opportunities for growth throughout our industry.

Serving on the committee has reinforced that leadership is about far more than operational success. In an industry that is often fast-paced and demanding, the relationships we build with one another are what truly make a difference. Through mentorship, collaboration, and a willingness to support one another, we strengthen not only our teams but also our industry as a whole.

As I reflect on the past year, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally through AAMD and the M.I.N.D. program. The experience has strengthened my appreciation for the people who make this industry so rewarding and reminded me that organizations like AAMD are about more than professional development. They create a community where we can learn, lead, give back, and build lasting relationships that extend far beyond the properties we manage.
